Flies For The Pit River Near Burney, California

The Pit River Is Open All Year In All Sections For Catch & Release Fly Fishing.

The Pit River is located in a steep canyon, this river is noted for it’s bogs and tall grasses that make it hard to see where you’re walking. The river rocks are very slick in most places so we advise you to always carry a wading staff on this river, spiked boots can be helpful. This is an especially good river to hire a guide until you get a lay of the lands. Knowing where to go when is super key on the Pit River and what to use where is also advisable. Using Indicators On This River Is Not Mandatory, In Fact Over The Years We Have Found, High Stick Nymphing Without Indicators, Saves More Flies and Catches More Trout In The Hydro Water & Edges. These trout love the edges and seems of pocket whitewater, so use a lot of weight one or two flies and feel your way through the stream with your drifts when nymphing. Dry flies should be casted upstream on foam lines or at 45 degrees. Using a wooden staff is better not to alert trout.

WE SUPPLY SIMMS G4 WADERS & BOOTS, RODS, REELS FOR ALL OF OUR TRIPS PLUS WADING STAFFS & A STREAM SIDE GOURMET LUNCH.
